The Irish Republican Socialist Party have been targeted in a burglary by Garda Special Branch in the latest in a series of sinister developments at the party's office in central Dublin. This latest attack came on Friday June 14th.

On 28th June 1914 a young Bosnian-Serb, Gavrilo Princip, shot dead archduke Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo. That fatal shot, fired in the cause of Serbian nationalism, set in train a series of events that led to four and a half years of bloody conflict in Europe, and beyond. Within months the major European powers were mobilising their armies in preparation for war.

Sinn FÈin will provide "constructive opposition"
Programme for Government continues legacy of inequality

In the debate on the nominations for Taoiseach on 6 June, the Sinn Féin Dáil leader Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin said their role would be one of "constructive opposition". Based on the record of the outgoing government, now re-elected, and on the proposed Programme for Government, Ó Caoláin said the Sinn Féin deputies would not be supporting the nomination of the Taoiseach and his Cabinet.
