Tribunals, Tribunals, Tribunals
Siobhan O'Dwyer

It started with the Beef Tribunal, and since then we have had Lindsey, Flood and now Morris [^] I could go on all day. That is exactly the point, why isn[base ']t the question asked as to how it is that in a democratic western state, the law of the land appears to be able to be flouted at will? Then the state asks prestigious citizens to chair a tribunal to tell the rest of us, how such events could have been allowed to take place in this democratic state of ours. We could have saved a lot of money if the state had listened to the public and enforced the laws as they were broken. [Fourthwrite: Tribunals, Tribunals, Tribunals]

Anger at new Lisanelly spy cameras

Omagh Sinn Féin Councillor Séan Begley has said the erection of three additional spy cameras on the parameter fencing of Lisanelly British Army base last week is a further infringement on the privacy of the residents of Strathroy. It is also a further worrying sign that remilitarisation is taking place, he said, instead of the demilitarisation that the British government promised under the terms of the Good Friday Agreement.
