Radio Static?

Does your Radio sometimes give you nothing but static?

Perhaps we can help. I'll attempt to do an infrequent update to this so that some A's follow the Q's.  In the meantime, you may want to check out these resources:

Here's my own list of questions about Radio:

Q1. How do you provide a list of links that will show a reader all of your posts by category?

Q2. How do you cause that list of links to fall in a certain place - left or right margin - of your weblog?

Q3. Isn't there a way to travel without a computer and still update/post to your weblog from any computer?

A. Yes. Go to prefs and under the Internet and Server settings, go to Remote Access & Security. Check the boxes, enter a password and you're set to access your Radio weblog for posting from a remote computer. (thanks to Ken Rawlings for pointing this out.)

Q4. How do you paste a thumbnail photo or graphic into a post?

A. Russ Lipton answered this one in a terrific tutorial titled How To Place Pictures In Your Weblog.

Q5. How would one go about editing an existing theme so that the center column is narrower and the margin's wider?

Q6. How do you know you've received comments? Do you have to scroll back through your own weblog?

A. So far, I think the answer here is yes. You have to look at your own public weblog to find comments that have been left there.

Q7. What are the key places that must be edited or pasted into to create one of the totally custom-looking weblogs?

Q8. Similar to Q7 - how'd they do that?

Q9. How did Russ Lipton create a page of story titles that is sub-divided into logical groups? Is the normal story index page still there?

A. Yes, the normal story index captures every story/essay/long document that you type. You can have a story that repeats the titles of other stories and separates them into categories as Russ did. If you look at his story index, you'll see that "The Good Stuff" is a story on that page. When you go to "The Good Stuff," you'll see that he has simply rearranged and grouped some titles from his story index.

Q10. For the layman, how do you take your weblog to another domain/host? Why is this a useful thing to do?

Q11. How does that "toggle new window linking" thing work?

A. Jenny Levine knows. Check out her the Radio 101 Document that shows you how. You have to add a script to your homepage template. Thanks Jenny for this answer.

Q12. How do you rearrange the placement of the permalink icon, the choice of the icon itself and the daily heading?

Q13. How could you close up the gap between the post time and the last line of the post?

Q14. What is this RSS feed thing and how are people using/managing the news aggregator?

A. John Robb just shined the bright lights on this question and gave us all some insights that will help. Thanks to John and the entire team at Userland Software for all they are doing.

Q15. What's a reasonable number of site/news subscriptions to have?

Q16. How does the www folder really work? Can I simply drop certain things in there and have them appear on my weblog? Like stories?

Q17. What are events and why should I care? How can I use them?

Q18. How do you add a search capability to a Radio weblog? Can it be google?

Q19. If I move my weblog from the RCS(?) to another host and domain name, will the links to my stories that appear on my home page be changed correctly or will I have to go in and edit all of those again?
