Well, here's a super idea: XooMLe. Basically, it takes Google's SOAP API and turns into into a URI API. And here's the extensive system diagram. I bet we could do the same thing for both the eRights API and the CCCP, thus overcoming the complexity of the RMI and SOAP interfaces, respectively. And why would we want to use a URI style API rather than RMI and SOAP? Tim Bray has an interesting take on RDF: the syntax is too hard (http://www.tbray.org/ongoing/When/200x/2003/05/21/RDFNet).
