Yet more linux stuff! This time for printing http://www.linuxprinting.org/suggested.html

This http://www.math.sunysb.edu/~comech/tools/CheapBox.html seems like a nice, general handy page about building a cheap Linux box.

So, I'm trying to get Linux running on my IBM Thinkpad laptop. It's going fairly well so far. But I've run into a snag: Red Hat doesn't automagically detect and config the internal modem. However, some hunting around as helped me find some helpful links:
www.linuxant.com
linmodems.org
So far, I've figured out that my modem is a Lucent Microelectronics WinModem 56k (rev1). So, http://www-3.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-4VFTT3.html might be helpful (although it is dated 2001!). http://start.at/modem appears to be a wealth of reference material. Also Red Hat 6.2, Kernel 2.2.14-5.0 might be the solution to all my problems (its an RPM for Lucent modems...).
However, it is possible I might need to *buy* an external, proper modem. Well, I guess I've learnt something :)
