OK, I finally got the iPhoto export homepage function to work without changing anything on my iMac (see this mislabelled website (it should be 2001 not 2002!) with pictures of my adorable nephew Ethan). Apple's servers must have been whacked! I guess Apple needs to "Akamaize" them!

Web-Seitz is another essential blog to read! Great stuff about Python, programming and politics!

diveintomark's non-pretentious explanation of the model view controller applied to web applications and services. - very cool!

skippingdot.net: Jabber linkfest: <quote>They appear to me to be making a go of this, and I don't want to see them crushed under the jackboots of Microsoft and AOL, so I want to help draw attention to the great technology they're bringing to bear on common business communications problems.</quote>

Content Mismanagement - summary: simplify your workflow, don't try to duplicate it on the web! <quote>But in many instances, big-ticket CMSes--installed back when throwing money at Web problems was in fashion--have made matters worse.</quote>

Johnnie Walker Blackened by Christopher "Conspiracy" Hitchens - <quote>...the Saudi regime refused to supply information on the sixteen of its citizens who had committed the mass murder, declined the requests for a closure of bin Laden charities on its soil, refused to allow Tony Blair to visit and (in the person of its Interior Minister, Prince Nayef) described the liberation of Afghanistan from the Taliban as a matter of "killing innocent people." On top of this, a prince appears on prime time to borrow the rhetoric of American liberals about the historic injustice inflicted by Earl Warren and FDR on the Japanese-Americans in 1942. Yet where is the outrage? The Al Qaeda murderers, in their private notes, describe how to wield knives and box-cutters to slaughter random</quote> - Whether or not this is true, the Saudis have a lot of unanswered questions to answer for.

The Unix Cheat Sheet in MS-Word format! No thanks, I'll wait for the PDF or HTML version!

Another way of avoiding XSLT processor crash - i.e. limit recursion by doing it in bunches to avoid stack overflow since most XSLT processors can't handle 1000s of recursive calls

iPhoto is soooooo 1.0; it looks great and mostly works!

However on my iMac DV SE with 384 MB, I can't upload my website made with my Christmas photos. I always get a strange timeout error. Either Apple's severs are overloaded or there's a bug in the program or my config!

via scripting.com: The HTML-code like format of Carl Huber's weblog is hilarious and the content is pretty cool too!

XPipe, a way to process XML similar to Unix command-line pipes, looks interesting since it comes from XML guru Sean McGrath

Street hockey suit thrown out of court:Game on, Jim! - Street hockey is a Canadian institution that should continue!
:: 12:58:57 PM       ::

iPhoto rocks! I am currently uploading my Christmas photos. It combines all the best features of Cameraid (e.g. rotation with keyboard shortcuts), PhotoShop and WebPics but of course is not as good as any of these programs individually. Prediction: this will be huge for the average user and most power users. I'm not about to throw away CamerAid, et al. but for most people this will be all that is needed!

<quote>The problem with all the Mac tools announced by Jobs at the show is that the Web publishing functionality is weak.  What's needed?  A CMS for a robust personal Website or Weblog.  That is the flaw in Apple's hub strategy - weak Web publishing tools.  All this great content but nothing that helps you publish anything more complex than a simple home page. </quote>  [John Robb's Radio Weblog] - Agreed let's hope Apple wakes up one day and makes a CMS part of their digital hub strategy. It's a question of when NOT if. Let's hope that when that day comes they choose Radio Userland!
