iPhotoRedux: Although I like iPhoto, I will go back to my present cumbersome flow of using the Canon Powershot Browser, Cameraid, WebPics and Photoshop and posting the images on my personal server because
- I have control: Apple or whoever can't unceremoniously dump my images. Of course I don't have ultimate control since I don't run my own ISP but having my own server is the closest practical thing to having control!
- No space restrictions: the cost of iTools for more disk storage is a ripoff
- iPhoto doesn't rotate the images properly! It rotates the thumbnails but not the actual image
- iPhoto doesn't allow images greater than 640x480 when exporting as a "homepage"
I expect alot of these rough edges will be removed in iPhoto 2 and most of these don't apply to the general public so I expect iPhoto to be a hit!
In fact, I'll probably use iPhoto myself to get enlargements like the huge poster size one that Steve showed during yesterday's keynote.
Absolute PowerPoint corrupts absolutely :-) Give me an HTML or handwritten chart or give me death :-) !
I agree with John Robb: K-Logs help get rid of Desktop Data Silos
I agree with Dave: I don't think XML itself will cause a protocol to be slow unlike the author of Fat protocols slow Web services
Apple: Java and Tomcat on Mac OS X, Part II. “In this session, you’ll see how to use Javaserver Pages (JSP) with Tomcat. You’ll also learn a bit about reusable components called Taglibs, which are supplied by the Jakarta project. Finally, you’ll see how to make a simple database-driven web applications on Mac OS X using JDBC, Tomcat, and the open-source database MySQL.” [mac.scripting.com]

via Simon: The UdanaxGreen data structures for the back end of Ted Nelson's ground breaking and ill fated Xanadu "mother of all hypertext and hyperlink projects" sure are baroque! OK, I guess I need actually need to read this document closely to understand it.!
Just for kicks I looked up "Oyster Noise Reduction" in Google and Google found it in the PDF resume of my old colleague at Oyster Noise Reduction, Geoff Park! Google rocks!
The geeks who saved Usenet. Google's restoration of digital history relied on a few heroes' packrat mentality and a mountain of decaying mag tapes. [Salon.com] - Ah! Henry Spencer, utzoo and the early net! Brings back fond memories of working at Oyster Noise Reduction on Queen Street behind the nascent Much Music and reading Usenet!
