Even though I love Radio, it's not working properly for me. When I post an item to my blog, whether on my home PC or remotely, Radio should publish it to the Web site automatically. It's not. So I go to work and post interesting things I find there, but they won't appear online until I get home and manually publish the site. So on weekdays, you probably won't see new entries until the PM in Central time.
Apparently the Radio developers are investigating the problem, so light a candle for them. Is there a patron saint for bloggers yet?

May not be any more posts tonight - KU is on! And we're playing MU, no less. Sorry, Lori, but those Tigers will be going home with their tails between their legs tonight! Rock-chalk-Jayhawk-KU!

11 1/2 Predictions for Wireless. Iain Gillott of iGillottResearch (PDF file) announces his wireless prophecies for 2002. Why Eleven and a 1/2, and not Twelve predictions? To be honest, we originally came up with twelve... [meryl's notes]
I agree that 2002 will be a big year for wireless in the U.S. The question is will it be big in libraries. In other words, will public libraries finally start shifting and become portable. I hope yes, and I hope we're ahead of the pack, not trailing behind it.

NTT researchers predict 10Gbps wireless NTT DoCoMo is using the 120Ghz range to experiment with wireless bandwidth rates of up to 10Gbps, although their current peak transfer rate in trials is 2.5Gbps. Of course, "at the moment...the sustained 1.25Gbps signal generated in the laboratory has a range of just 50cm." Now THAT'S wireless access! [via the Interesting People list]

I saw an implementation of the vCalendar standard for the first time a few weeks ago and was blown away. Basically, it lets you click on an event and automatically add it to your vCalendar-aware calendar (say, Microsoft Outlook). Here's what it looks like in action: http://dashes.com/kick/. Scroll down to the "When" section and click where it says to. My question is how do I add this functionality to the online SLS calendar that's done in Oracle? I looked through a few pages online last time, but I need step-by-step instructions. Is there a vCalendar for Dummies out there?

Hill politicos trap 'Gold Mouse' awards "The study, by the Congressional Management Foundation, found that people want information and they want it fast -- without the flashy graphics and fawning tributes to the boss that are standard fare on most lawmakers' Internet sites. Congress, as whole, earned a C-minus."
Big old duh. The folks that passed the DMCA wouldn't understand an information shifted world, now would they? There are other interesting notes in this article, so it's worth a read. Note that it's NOT from ABC News!

Wow, check this out. I followed a link to ABCNews.com this morning, and I had to watch an ad before I could even get to their main page. THEIR MAIN PAGE! Not just a story. And to add insult to injury, I got a pop up ad, too! I understand the need for an ad revenue stream on the Web, but I refuse to watch ads even before I get to your site. ABC News - you are definitely NOT shifted and I won't be visiting your site again. You don't even get a link.
