Groan. I had set up the Homer Library with a FastCounter because they don't have their own server logs, and today I just noticed that you can't login to see your FC statistics unless you create a Microsoft .NET Passport account. Bah. Does anybody have a suggestion for a new counter? Barring better suggestions, I'll probably go with Site Meter or Web Trends Live.

My mouth is watering just reading through this Food Timeline! Question, though. The first note of combining peanuts and chocolate is in 1500 BC, but when did the first person divine the wonders of chocolate on its own? Doesn't that merit a step of its own on the evolutionary chain?

Note: although the SL blog won't focus on reference sites the way the old Librarians' Site du Jour did, I'll still post links I find interesting.

Gary Price has put together a fantastic webliography for the Winter Olympics 2002 (note to library webmasters: link to it!), but I have to ask where the list of resources is for the Winter X-Games scheduled for the end of this month. Those would be much harder to find, but we should be providing that service, too. X-Games are huge in Gen-Y and Gen-X circles. [Via Library Stuff]
