ACM Digital Library == *un*publication
On the MIT Lightweight Languages List, there's a discussion about whether it is advantageous to a conference or to its attendees to have the proceedings "published" in the ACM Digital Library. As a non-academic, it's my contention that putting your paper into the black hole of the ACM DL is almost exactly the opposite of publication, because of the paywall that hides the DL's content from non-members.
