Scala "re"visited
Martin Odersky is one of the designers of the Pizza language, which was a very cool set of extensions to Java, including a prototype of what might someday be Java's version of generic programming.
Martin's Scala site has said (at least since February)
We are currently working on an implementation, aiming to have a prototype ready by spring 2002.
I wonder what the current status is.
