GCC Quotes

About working with GCC:

There's a wood of code but I cant see the trees (!!!). -- Aleksandar Zivkovic, Novi Sad, Yugoslavia

we've been handed three tin cans, a round towitt, and a toilet plunger, and asked to build a working sailplane. -- Phil Edwards, http://gcc.gnu.org/ml/gcc/2001-02/msg01107.html

GMANE

Gmane is a mailing list aggregator of sorts, that serves the mailing lists as NNTP. Seems to work pretty well.

I did a partial and personal version of this some time ago, making a Python program which was simultaneously an IMAP client (which would read your pre-filtered mailing list mail) and an NNTP server (which would serve each mailing list mailbox as if it were a newsgroup).

Alas, they're somewhat inaccessible at this time.

Now I can read the Python-dev mailing list in a reasonable way. Looks like some interesting experiments going on in the Python CVS sandbox. There is a start towards an ASDL description of Python's abstract syntax (see sandbox/ast), and a Python implementation of the Bayesian SPAM-filter recently described by Paul Graham (see sandbox/spambayes).
