>>>Google announces the First Annual Google Programming Contest.

This is so cool, I'm totally interested in working on an entry but I'm not into the whole parsing thing.  I'm on a totally different track than that.  I am much more interested in coming up with an alternative means of viewing the output.  But that's not what Google is looking for.  Bummer.

I may work on a similar project though.

>>>WebKreator says, NuSphere PHPEd. Another free editor bought and repackaged as a commercial product. Powerful software, but still needs some polishing.

Thanks for the review.  I was looking at this program, but US $299 seemed pretty pricey.

I use UltraEdit.  Although it does not have all of the extras that PHPEd has it certainly helps me get a lot done.  It has a 45 day free trial and I recommend it to anyone who uses a text editor.  Lots and lots of configuration options, colored syntax, HTML Tidy integration, REGEX, macros, project support, global search and replace, etc.  It's worth the US $35.00

>>>The prototype26 portfolio section is very nice.  It's a very good use of Flash.  Very clean with just the right amount of physics in the animations.  I really like this style and it's definitely worth a visit.

>>>I was really looking forward to Jay's site, but it looks like the posts have really slowed down.  Bummer.

It is a really good idea for a blog and I hope he finds more time to share.

>>>I noticed that the Movie88 website is running PHP, pretty cool.  PHP was a good choice of scripting languages to get their site up and running quickly.  I'm surprised that the site is running as fast as it is though, PHP does not seem to scale as well as JSP.  But then again, it doesn't suffer from all of JSP's overhead.

>>>Yahoo! says, $1 films spook Hollywood.

Movie88 is still running strong and it looks like the price is right.  Consumers are fed up with Hollywood and the BigCo's charging an arm and a leg for their overproduced and content lacking productions.

Although the quality is still kinda poor, their site is attracting a lot of visitors.  I've noticed that the site has gotten a lot slower, but the streaming has stayed pretty good.

I wonder if the BigCo's will try to bring down Movie88 via alternative means.  It seems that a covert DDOS attack could be difficult for them to overcome.  Especially when you consider their deep pockets.
