Drivel:  John Robb forwarded a great presentation on using Jabber as a communications protocol between applications over the Internet.  This seems to be a really hot area that is just beginning to take off.  Using Jabber is nice because it doesn't carry the overhead of SOAP but adds a bit more structure than XML-RPC but maintains flexibility.
