Microsoft's Federated Security and Identity Roadmap
For enterprises, the Microsoft® Windows® server family and Active Directory® are the fundamental building blocks for managing and securing identity. The upcoming release of Windows .NET Server makes several advancements that will help enterprises take solid steps on the road to federating identity:
- Cross forest trust. Windows .NET Server allows you to directly federate your Active Directory with another Active Directory over the Internet.
- . NET Passport Integration. Windows .NET Server can accept a .NET Passport as a credential type, and map that .NET Passport to an Active Directory account.
