Brokers on Arm

ARM Holdings was relegated from the FTSE 100 last week, together with TMT stable mate, Energis. Now, the only TMT stock left in the FTSE 100 is Sage.

Perhaps to emphasise just how investors tastes have changed over the past twelve months, ARM was replaced by Xstrata - a precious metals mining company that only made its London market debut in March this year.

Despite this relegation, brokers retained their stance on the chip manufacturer. The most recent Multex Global estimates report, dated 7th June, showed that the consensus rating taken from 29 brokers is for an overall "hold". Within that, the sellers are Comerzbank, Williams de Broë, WestLB Panmure, UBS Warburg and Teather & Greenwood. Buyers include Charles Stanley, Deutsche Bank, JP Morgan and Goldman Sachs (trading buy).

My investment in ARM is down by just over 50%
