Yesterday's question:
You are a DTS developer who has just installed SQL Server Personal Edition and are trying to convert data from Access to SQL Server using the Transform Data task while cleansing the data using the multi-phase feature. For some reason though, you cannot see any of the individual phases when in the Transform Data task under the Transformations tab. How would you make it where you can see the feature?
Answer: Enable the feature in Enterprise Manager by right-clicking on Data Transformation Services | Properties and selecting the appropriate option.
Explaination: To turn on the ability to see the multi-phase data pump feature in DTS Designer, you have to right-click on Data Transformation Services in SQL Server Enterprise Manager and select Properties. Once in the Properties screen select Show Multi-phase Pump in DTS Designer. If this option is disabled, you can still run packages that use the multi-phase data pump feature, you just won't be able to edit it.
