IBM, BEA Split Market For Java Apps
Take it with a grain of salt - Giga isn't really a numbers house.

Application Powerhouse?
The plan calls for the companies to leverage their strengths - Novell's security and access controls, BEA application platform - to create a sum greater than the parts... Key question is the ability of the two vendors to execute on the deal - as noted yesterday, Novell has a dim track record and BEA is said to be easy to partner with - but not necessarily easy to get things done with. It's in both vendors interest to do so - IBM is the other big Java player - and benefits from internal security expertise.
