Move to dismiss "expected and late"
Microsoft asked that the case against it led by nine dissenting states be dismissed, arguing the states lack the legal standing to fight the proposed settlement. Precedent is against the software vendor, with the Supreme Court having ruled twice that States can pursue antitrust actions.
Microsoft is seeking a dismissal of the antitrust case being pursued by the nine holdout states. In a court filing, the software giant said the states were seeking "draconian" penalties. [Wall Street Journal]
