Going crazy with macros #3
Dave Winer
Welcome to the third installment of Going Crazy with Macros, the only tutorial service on the Internet that helps you lose your mind. Today we are going to invent a new Web Service called The XML Coffee Cup. Now if that isn't sheer lunacy, tell me what is!
Aha! I knew there must be some way to tap into what's going on behind the scenes. I just needed a pointer to get me started.
Hmm, I guess I'm supposed to read this page first...
The Precipice (Asteroid Wars, Book 1)
Library Journal
The greenhouse effect has caused catastrophic changes to Earth's atmosphere, guaranteeing economic, social, and enviromental collapse in the near future. When Dan Randolph and Martin Humphries enter a business partnership to seek new resources in the Asteroid Belt as the only means of saving the planet, only one of them has Earth's best interests in mind.
I haven't read this yet, but it's next on my list of fiction to read (if it ever gets returned to the library...)
Laws to Punish Insecure Software Vendors?
"An influential body of researchers is calling on the US Government to draft laws that would punish software firms that do not do enough to make their products secure." Yeah that'll work.
What I'd like to see is a test of the liablity restrictions that are a standard part of the licence agreements associated with most software.
Philippines, U.S. target militant group
An advance team of U.S. troops are on the ground in the Philippines to plan for war games "with live targets", suggesting that a Philippine extremist group could be next in the war against terrorism.
War games, with live targets?
Radio UserLand for Webloggers
Robert Scoble and John Robb of UserLand wrote this guide to help you get started in the world of weblogging and personal websites with Radio UserLand 8.0 as your desktop content management system.
It's starting to make sense...
Memorializing an iconic moment
An interesting discussion of the proposed sculpture memorializing the "flag raising at ground zero".
