Will Digital Rights Management software shape copyright law?

Increasingly, the people who want to control the revenue derived from intellectual property are acquiring the ability to do so through things such as Digital Rights Management software. And that begs an important question: what effect, if any, will copyright law have in limiting the duration of a monopoly right if technology gives the holder of intellectual property the ability to lock down rights for an even longer period of time?
