Mobile phone getting a color boost for summer!. DoCoMo's tiny mova Premini mobile phone series by Sony Ericsson is getting a color boost for summer. New Premini II S color combinations of orange/silver, white/lavender, and blue/green push the palm-size handset beyond its mini-macho borders into new territory. For the Premini II S the company created a playful Flash movie site called Premini TV. Click on 'Color Shuffle' and 'Light On' plus the colored dots positioned above them for light effects, then run the mouse over the musical Premini II S handsets covering the screen. DoCoMo 3G Cell Phones Model Designer Fashion. NTT is shrugging off some of that infamous group-think mentality promoting trendy young designs in an eye-popping line of custom jackets for the P901iS series. Skulls, pistols, snakeskin, Samba Samurai and flower camo transform mobile phones into Japanese pop culture icons -- complete with matching phone straps. The cell phones transformation into fashion statement is something Americans are slowly catching on to. Coach, Hermes and Gucci got it right away and started marketing phone straps, charms or Keitai cases for brand loving locals. Custom painted, and completely illegal, rip offs of Chanel and Dior logos decorate jewel-encrusted handsets on pretty young things but everyone knows real brands are better. Mobile commerce over cell phones jumped 25 percent last fiscal year to around 971 billion yen ($8.8 billion) according to a survey on e-business just released by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry [.pdf in Japanese]. Covering all of fiscal 2004 (which in Japan ended March '05), the survey showed wireless purchases of books and music had grown by 85 percent from virtually nothing the previous year to 330 million yen ($3 million). VeeStream Enables "i-Pod-Like 3G Music Video Service". Vidiator Technology has declared a "world first" for their VeeStream mobile music video service, launched in Scandinavia. South Africa: 2nd mover advantage in 3G sector. Launching its wireless broadband or 3G offering this week, MTN insisted it had good reasons for not rushing to market and did not believe that being second would prove to be a disadvantage. Australia: Telstra Plans Internal 3G Trials For July. Telstra said it will conduct internal trials of its third generation GSM mobile network from July 4 to ensure customers receive high standards of service. Telstra said in a statement that its 3G GSM, or Global System for Mobile, network and customer service platforms are now operational in six mainland capital cities and the trial, which will involve company employees, will enable the group to fine-tune customer services prior to launch.
