Update on the angry/sick/sad story from early Tuesday morning: Marks on Lakeville boy consistent with gag, coroner testifies.

The Dakota County coroner testified Tuesday that marks she saw on the neck of 4-year-old Dillon Blocker were consistent with his trying to claw a gag off his head.

If the Lakeville boy was gagged, that could explain why people in neighboring apartments reported hearing thumps and noises but not much crying the night before he died.

And: BCA forensic expert Gary Walton testified that tests revealed a mixture of blood and saliva on the belt. [Coroner Lindsey] Thomas said that fresh cuts photographed on McBride's hand by police could have been caused by punching out one of Dillon's front teeth. Thomas found the tooth in the boy's stomach.

Finally: Thomas said outside court that it was one of the worst cases of child abuse she has seen in more than 15 years of doing autopsies.

From The Register: Eight new IIS security holes exposed.

There are eight new security stuff-ups affecting various editions of Microsoft IIS (Internet Information Server), the most serious of which will enable an attacker to take over the system, MS revealed today.

If you're wondering why you haven't heard about them before, chalk it up to Trustworthy Computing, a Redmond policy which leaves everyone exposed to attack until MS is satisfied with its patches and spills the beans.
