Also changed the name of this blog from the old joke Brown Knows to the more accurate A Work in Progress. Figured people that don't know me might not get the joke, or, maybe even the pun (Brown Nose). It's not even close to how I look at life and learning anyway. We'll try the new one title on for size. I'm still fond of [Insert Title Here], although that feels maybe less intentionally incomplete than A Work In Progress.

One other thing: I found that I didn't miss a damn thing by not checking news and e-mail every hour. The world rolls on. It's nice to document it, but it will most certainly roll on with or without me. Refreshing.

First Class is a nonstop flight. Anything else is gravy.

From diveintomark, a link to Jonathon Delacour's take on Netscape 4.x users.

Hear, hear. Even if you boil down your browser options to "the big three" (IE, Netscape, and Opera), I can't think of a good reason why you wouldn't want a version that actually supports current standards and best practices. It'd be like complaining to your cable company that your fancy new digital cable service looks like crap on your favorite, vintage, black and white TV set.

Good pointer from Scripting News to a Dan Gillmor article on deep linking.

If you are reading this column in the newspaper, but did not read every article and look at every advertisement in previous sections, stop now. You must go back and look at all of that material before continuing with this column.

Also liked the quote that suggested that if I don't watch commercials, I'm actually stealing content from the networks. Heh.

Vacation was good. Not wonderful. Not completely refreshing. But good. Unfortunately, Jasmine continued to be sick through Wednesday, and didn't get in the water until Thursday. Melissa and I ended up playing tag team, spending the better part of the week inside. Ah, well. Could've been much worse, I suppose.

Esmé had an unbelievably good time, swimming for hours every day, getting her hair braided, getting a chance to swim with some dolphins in a sheltered lagoon.

In all, a mostly enjoyable way to spend the week between jobs. Now, it's time to get back to it.

I'm back.
