The best investment of the summer? An inflatable pool for the back yard. First thing the girls want to do when we get home is play in the pool. We've got their playhouse right next to it, so they can slide into the water all evening. And there's nothing like mowing the lawn in 100° temps, and being able to cool off. Nice. 5:08:24 PM |

Bookstore browsing last night, and I stumbled across Ender's Shadow. Not exactly a sequel to Ender's Game, one of the few books I've read, oh, say five or more times. It's a retelling of the same story, but from the point-of-view of a different character. Ender's right-hand man, Bean, a genius in his own right. Got through about ninety pages, and I like what I've read so far. 9:34:20 AM |

From the morning paper, an article on the growing dominance of Clear Channel. Clear Channel Worldwide, which controls 70 percent of the nation's major concert business and operates the country's largest chain of radio stations. In the Twin Cities area, it manages the Target Center and owns seven stations that account for 46 percent of the area's FM listenership. Not in the paper, but worth visiting, is www.clearchannelsucks.org. |
