2004 Presidential Election
Gary Hart is going to be in Denver Thursday. He's attending a "meetup" at the Sweet Rocking Coffee at 414 E 20th Ave. Here's the text of the e-mail:
"Hi Hart Supporters,
This is William from Meetup.
Senator Hart has just informed us that he will be in Denver on Thursday, May 1st, and intends to go to your Meetup! This is very exciting news for all of us. However, with the Senator attending, we obviously needed a larger venue to accommodate all of you supporters.
Sweet Rocking Coffee (at 414 E 20th Ave) has graciously volunteered their venue for this Meetup, thanks!
We hope to see all of you at Sweet Rocking Coffee this Thursday, May 1st at 8 PM for some intriguing talk with the Senator.

They should not assume that I am a supporter. I signed up for e-mail for information. I'll probably go see him anyway. :-)
I first met Gary Hart as a student at Metropolitan State College in the '70's. He was a guest speaker in one of my political science classes. I have no memory of whether or not he was already in office or just gearing up to run for the first time. He's still trying to connect to college students.
I wonder if he's in town to help out Susan Casey in the mayoral race? She ran a campaign (maybe two) for him in her former life. I was talking to one of her staffers today. They think Casey will surprise with her showing next Tuesday just as Hart did in 1983 in New Hampshire? Vermont?
