Denver Justice Center Here's a editorial in favor of building the new Denver Justice Center from the Denver Post [April 12, 2005, "Stay focused on need for jail"]. They write, "The city sorely needs a new jail. The existing Smith Road lockup, designed for 1,500 inmates, often holds more than 2,000. Tier-style cellblocks make it dangerous for staff and inmates alike. And it's risky to continue busing prisoners from Smith Road downtown to courts in the City and County Building where they encounter the general public."
