Say hello to Chris Nevitt. He's a candidate for Denver City Council District 7, the seat being vacated by the term-limited Kathleen MacKenzie. According to the front page, "I am running to represent you and the rest of my south Denver neighbors on the Denver City Council. Mark your calendars - Election Day: Tuesday, May 1, 2007. I would be honored to have your support. I am running for the simplest of reasons - I love my neighborhood and want to protect it. I love Denver and want it to thrive. These are goals I know we all share. But as neighborhoods and as a city, we face complex challenges in achieving these simple goals. We also face the major issues of our day - from jobs, to health care, to energy, to education. We need leadership that can meet these challenges while protecting neighborhood quality of life and promoting responsible community-centered business and development."
The website is still a work in progress. We didn't find an obvious way to sign up for an email list. No photos of the candidate. No weblog. There is a tip jar right up front. He's included a link for voters to register. We're sure that we can expect more in the months to come.
Welcome to the election. We'll be watching.
