Here's an update on the Denver school board election this fall from The Denver Post. They write:

An open seat on the Denver Public Schools Board of Education has attracted four candidates for the Nov. 6 election. A total of 10 candidates are running for three seats on the seven-member board, which is the policy-making body for Denver Public Schools. The two incumbents are Theresa Peña and Bruce Hoyt. Peña is the board president and is running for an at-large seat against challengers John McBride and Rita Montero. Hoyt is the board's vice president and represents District 1. He is being challenged by Frank Deserino and Lawrence Botnick. The open seat is being vacated by Lucia Guzman, who is stepping down as District 5's representative. Candidates for District 5, which represents northwestern Denver, are Tony Curcio, Arturo Jimenez, Raymond Gutierrez and José Silva. Candidates turned in their petitions last week. Officials at the Denver Election Commission verified the petitions Wednesday and did a lottery Thursday for placement on the ballot.
