Denver November 2004 Election

Attorney General Ken Salazar has collected over $1 million in the first month of his campaign for a U.S. Senate seat from Colorado, according to the Rocky Mountain News. The Rocky is also reporting that state Democrats are questioning whether Peter Coors is a consensus-building, moderate [May 4, 2004, "Dems point to Coors' e-mails"]. From the article, "(Jim) Gibson said he has been stunned in recent weeks to see the state's top Republicans portray Coors as a moderate - and therefore more electable than the other top GOP candidate in the race, former Congressman Bob Schaffer. 'This is an extreme makeover,' Gibson said Monday. 'They're trying to paint Coors as a mainstream, pragmatic problem-solver. The real Peter Coors is a right-wing, polarizing, all-or-nothing partisan.'"
