Another variation on the theme of teaching with libraries to teach libraries how to build the digital commons. This came out of a visit from SFPL branch improvement program folks who mentioned a local paper's article criticizing library investment in technology. 31 MLK students had just completed a on-line branch improvement survey. Survey question 12 was, "How important is to have more computers to use in the new library?" Results:

It was natural then to offer this curriculum option on their class blog: Earn extra credit. and let the San Francisco Library know what you think about equipping library branches with computers. [4 News]
Results will be coming in all week, but this first one from 6th. grade ESL student Melvin deserves a quick post: "I think there should be more videos, computers, CDs etc. because it could be better use for people that wants to make learning fun. In computers, you can research and use homework help on the internet. Internet is a resource, and you can use it for help. Without computers, what would we use?
