Down the DMCA!. Interesting points. I need to go back and read the entire law, but this phrase is worth a look:

"`(4) Nothing in this section shall enlarge or diminish any rights of free speech or the press for activities using consumer electronics, telecommunications, or computing products".
Chuck goes on to quote the first amendment. Last time all of us checked, the right of free speech could not be diminished much less ENLARGED! Who the hell do they think they are? We really need to scrutinize our elected officials more and yank the ones that don't belong.

Obviously, you can't yell fire in a crowded theatre. But, can you yell it outside? Yes, as long as I'm not endangering the rights of others. Thus, as long as we are not endangering the rights of artists....[hold that thought]...Are your rights endangered when someone breaks the seal on a box? No, which is what this SDMI thing is all about. It's not about distributing music but about the right to encrypt, is it not? Hmmm..more later..

Microsoft spends $36M on Web software company. If this thing is any good, that's a bargain price!

Microsoft to Acquire NCompass Labs. I'm not real familiar with NCompass. But, if it's CMS, then it competes with a lot of other stuff. Should be interesting to see how Microsoft will insert themselves into this arena?
