AdCritic: Microsoft - Password-protected Bra - ok. not fair. Why can't the we get the damned Puritan censors off our backs and get commercials like these!

"It seems that we here in the US are getting the shaft. Microsoft is doing some pretty risque advertising in Switzerland. In the seemingly conservative US, we just get boring ads (except for this one) about servers talking to eachother. I'm moving. "

I'm amazed at how quickly unfamiliar one can get floating between languages. I'm in the midst of swimming through Delphi code again. Interesting, but Pascal is a real wordy language. I must admit I've enjoyed drinking from the proverbial tit of VB and it's unnatural ability to hide complexity from the programmer. On the other hand, I am continually frustrated to see consultants who probably make more money than me not follow proper programming practices. For God's sake, declare your damned variables! And would it hurt to have a little error handling? Geez!

It makes me wonder if Java's not worth another look. No language is perfect. But, some IDE's are DEFINITELY better than others. I can get a lot done in the Microsoft world, as long as I'm willing to lock myself in on the server side. My company doesn't seem to care too much. If it were my choice, I would choose otherwise. This IIS security shit has me a bit scared. Funny how few bugs and leaks Apache has and EVERYONE has access to the source.

Harlem rolls out red carpet for Clinton - Clinton is no dummy. He's paying back a loyal constituency but also raising the profile of a very important cultural area of New York. I hope to see a little of Harlem when next I'm in New York. So much is focused on the touristy areas of Manhattan. But, the boroughs also have a lot of history to offer. Plus, the proximity to Manhattan ain't bad either. It should be interesting to see how this plays out over the next few years.

Telegraph: Winslet prepares to move in with ghost of Tintagel - I find this rather amusing. The English love their history so much they think it still walks the Earth. But, it's probably pretty stormy and windy in that house. Plus, the age means things make more noise (doors, floors, etc).

"The house is 500 yards from the ruins of Tintagel Castle, said to have been King Arthur's Camelot, and below a hotel that has three ghosts of its own." I'm betting everyone's imagination has gotten the best of them. I'd take the house, ghost or not.
