BEA touts 'Visual Basic for Java'
Yea, I'll believe when I see it. The reason people use Java is that they don't want to use Visual Basic. I use Visual Basic all the time. You know, it sucks! If I could program in Java, I would. Unfortunately, I don't get to make those decisions at my job.
On that same note, something else that sucks rocks!
Microsoft and their stupid installers for Office 2000. If you install on 1 CD (like I did like a year ago), then try to reinstall from another CD (a convenient network version which has the same stupid Office suite) it doesn't work. You've got to completely uninstall the whole damned thing and reinstall from the start. Oh, and throw in a reboot too. There's an hour of my life that I'll never get back! I guess they are trying to catch all of those license violators. Geez. I've seen 3 or 4 different implemenations of the same damned office suite. It's the same software! Ugh!

I had this interesting discussion with our security guy today. They are implementing a filter list for SPAM coming from the outside. I am all for it. But, the interesting part was that words like nasty and "100%" were among the list of words they would filter. So, I took on that as a challenge :-) So, what if I write an email to my internal address with something like "Take a look at this nasty code". That gets blocked. Or ever better, "I agree with this guy 100%". Hmm. I guess I should only be 99% agreeable from now on. I don't know what I'm going to do with that other 1%.
