Frank McPherson. Frank McPherson gave me an idea for a new macro for Radio 8. If you use the Weblogs.Com interface, we know what your favorite weblogs are, and we know when they updated. So why not have an easy way to include that in your home page template? That's what this macro does. Here's a demo. Update Radio.root. Call the macro this way: <%radio.macros.viewFavoriteWeblogs ()%>. That's all there is to it.&... [Meerkat: An Open Wire Service]

A List Apart: Better Living Through XHTML: "XHTML IS THE STANDARD markup language for web documents and the successor to HTML 4. A mixture of classic (HTML) and cuttingâ013edge (XML), this hybrid language looks and works much like HTML but is based on XML, the webâ019s â01Csuperâ01D markup language, and brings web pages many of XMLâ019s benefits, as enumerated by the Online Style Guide of the Branch Libraries of The New York Public Library."

A picture named BCChic2.jpgI love David Allen Sibley's bird book.  Even though I don't own a copy.  I do own the calendar though, it's great.

The picture to the right is from his original art page.  If anyone wants to buy me a present...

One of these days, I'm going to buy a camera and a bunch of bird seed.

Check out the rest of Sibley's work...it's some amazing, obsessive stuff.

This should only go to mcavoyrobot...nothing else.

The above test failed, it looks like I can't only post to one category, I have to always post to the "Home Page".  Which isn't a big deal, it just means that my Radio site will mirror all my other sites.

This is a test.  It should go to all sites (mcavoyrobot, lonely lion, and radio)

freshmeat.net: Perl webmail 2.3.11: "About: Perl webmail is a CGI script that interfaces with a POP mail server that you provide. It can check mail, read messages, reply, forward, delete, send and receive attachments, and it doesn't have to be a local mail server. This script talks strictly POP3 for receiving and SMTP for sending mail."

I've been looking for something like this...I've been toying with the idea of building my own mailserver.  As of now, I can send outbound email from my home *nix machines, but incoming has been non-existant.  I like the idea of being a not-hotmail user.  We'll see.  mcavoy76@hotmail.com has been my handle for so long, it would be a change.

This is a test to the old Astonvilla site.  Test 3.

Steve Hooker has created a fantastic tool for Radio.  It allows me to route category posts to different Blogger API sites.  So, with Radio, I can post to mcavoyrobot, Lonely Lion, or any other Blogger API based sites that I choose.

Totally awesome.  This is a big deal to me.  Thanks Steve.

Incidentally, Steve is also the maintainer of astonvilla.blogfootball.com, one of the original homes of Lonely Lion.  This dumb American (me)didn't understand that it was a European FOOTBALL site, not a general Manila hosting site.  I was trying to post funny shit about Care Bears, it didn't match up with the rest of the sites.  There was a small international incident.  Here's some quotes:

New blogger Lonely lion wants more cheering - and is busy removing bugs. HERE

Anyone like care bears?
Read the
lonely lion blog HERE

I know it's not a Villa blog but I quite like Chris McAvoy's Lonely Lion stuff and it shows on my blog update radar. Your chance to find out about Star Dragons? HERE

I don't know quite what the Lonely Lion is up to in the Creepy Coupe. I'll own up to not understanding this one. Nice lion logo but seriously weird. HERE

Lonely Lion update: There was a flurry of e-mails on Friday and over the weekend and it turns out that the site's claret and blue lion is a spooky coincidence. It's not a football site but if you fancy a slant on US/Chicago news you could do a lot worse than pay a visit. We now have 1 more (albeit remote) Villa follower!   HERE

Why Pixar Should Buy Square USA. Several of you are likely aware that Square USA, the division of Square that created the CGI dynamo movie called Final Fantasy, is closing its doors unless a buyer or investor steps forward. Here's an idea: Pixar should buy Square USA. [osOpinion]

I listened to most of Governer Ryan's budget speech this afternoon.  It sounded like some good talk, anti death penalty, pro education, stuff I like.

Afterwards, IPR (Illinois Public Radio) spoke to a state senator, whose name I didn't catch.  He said two things that caught my ear, "You need to break a few eggs to make an omelette", and "we don't want a chinese menu for a budget."

Quoting a mass murderer...slandering the Chinese...good work.  Next time toss in some homophobia.
