I had the two cameras from the Traveling Camera Odyssey in my pockets as I set out to photograph some 'typical' Americans celebrating the birth of our country. Since the 4th of July fell on a Sunday - right in the middle of a traditional 3 day weekend - I had just enough time to meet up with about 35 million of my fellow countrymen and countrywomen in sunny Southern California:

Somewhere out there, I would take two pictures with the Traveling Cameras, but where ... ?

People froliced in the water as it lapped the shore.

Some awaitied the evening patiently.

 Some cruised the beach.

And some just sat at home and flew the flag.

People did this,

  and people did that.

Mostly they just had fun,

 ...

or not.

At the Edge of America.

All of these pictures were taken with a D100 with a 24-120vr Nikkor attached. Over a few hours of prowling the beach, I took many photos. On two occasions, I took pictures with the Traveling Cameras, first the film camera then the digital one.
