Promo Guy's 8/5/02 Survey

Promo Guy posts (and I answer) this survey:

1. Ever considered just deleting your Blog and not doing it anymore?
No.

2. How about a quick review of the last movie you saw?
Minority Report: Tom Cruise doing 80% Mission Impossible 20% Risky Business. The chick was really freeky. That whole proficising murder in the wading pool thing - whew! Tom breaks her out, they go shopping but never do it!!!! What is up with that?!?!?!?

3. What's your favorite gadget?
My computer, camera, printer, cd writer and car with cd player all hooked up.

Are you lusting for any new ones?
Duh.

Will you ever be satisified???
No.

4. What "table game" do you enjoy playing most with other people?
Couple Painting and Scrabble.

Have you played it lately?
Couple Painting, last Saturday; Scrabble, about 4 months ago.

5. Have you ever been obsessed with something so much that it was close to causing you physical or mental harm?
Yes.

6. Did you grow up in a family or community that displayed racist or prejudice attitudes?
My maternal grandfather was an extreme racist. Born around the turn of the century in Alabama, he migrated to Detroit where he worked in the automotive industry as a supervisor to a largely black workforce. He was emphatic in his distain for Blacks in private and most embarassingly, in public.

Did it influence you in any way, either toward or away from those views?
I was at first confused but soon repelled by his views.

How did you manage to avoid it, or did you?
I hope that I have defended against racism well.

My two best friends until age 10 when we moved were Puerto Rican (Paul Ramerez) and Jewish (Saul Tobin). We moved "20 miles away" from Detroit, but my mother taught in an inner city grade school (Higgenbothem) and I befriended some of her students and played with them when I went to her school. To this day I have friendships or aquaintences with black, white, hispanic, middle eastern, asian, native american, jewish and gay people (I actually married one of those.)

7. Good grief, I am starving! You got anything to eat around here?
No, and don't rub it in.
