Two barrel cacti enjoy the skys west of South Mountain. 12/06/02

South of Phoenix is the Phoenix Mountain Preserve. The summit is South Mountain, home to all of the television broadcast antenae for the Phoenix area. A city park surrounds the antenna installation which is maintained as close to natural its natural state as is possible considering there are millions of visitors every year to this huge desert preserve.
