KM wiki resources.
Good set of knowledge management resources. I'm not just saying that because I'm one of the resources listed Somebody help my on the etiquette of wikis. Do I edit the page to fix the mistake or do I ping someone who maintains the page? [McGee's Musings]10:15:42 AM |

Digging deeper into knowledge hoarding.
Something tells my intuition that we're not framing things correctly when we get wrapped up in discussions of the appropriate reward systems/incentives needed to encourage knowledge sharing. It's encouraging to see the beginnings of some research data, but I remain suspicious. I suspect that we still need to get a more nuanced understanding of knowledge work and knowledge sharing before we can draw any good conclusions. Right now, I think the reports we're getting are the same low quality data we'd get out of focus groups. I'd like to see some data on what people do about knowledge sharing as opposed to what they say. [McGee's Musings] 10:14:45 AM |

Attacking friction in knowledge work processes.
Here's a mini-case from last April (Knowledge Management: Value Is Relative) on knowledge management thinking applied to an intranet portal.
It's a nice little example of the notion of attacking friction in work processes as a source of value. Putting numbers around the payoffs is a bit of a stretch but the logical argument for value improvement is pretty straightforward. [McGee's Musings]6:59:37 AM |
