Sound State
Pithy review on Slate of the technology we use to listen to music. Fred Kaplan is an audiophile and although he has seven boxes in his living room dedicated to delivering a signal to his speakers, he makes no recommendation that we should join him in his obsession, but concludes that the new sound formats SACDs and DVD-A, (incompatible with each other and with existing CDs) are unlikely to become accepted standards.
A Moral Tale - Search Engine Optimisation
A comprehensive guide by ex-hotbot engineer Paul Boutin on how to make sure a website is found by people looking for it with search engines and directories. He avoids the all too common suspect tactics of trying to fool the search engines' 'bots' which index the web, by littering a site with spurious invisible references to popular search terms like 'britney spears'.
