Eurotrash
Eurotrash is a weblog which is following the introduction of the Euro:
"On Jan. 1, 300 million people in 12 countries will start using some funny-looking money they have never seen before. Months later their old familiar bills and coins will buy them nothing. Many of these people will have only a vague idea of what is going on. This could be a lot more fun than all of that overhyped millennium crap.
EUROTRASH is devoted to chronicling this historic leap and the ensuing chaos. We don't care about macroeconomic theory. We just want to know if the Coke machines are still going to work."
It is evident that the driving force behind the introduction of the Euro, indeed behind the whole European project, has come from the politicians rather than the people. The consequences for ordinary folk of what the politicians have been up to are about to get a lot more tangible - this is in your face integration.
There's going to be a lot of fascinating stuff going down in Europe in the next few months. If the Eurotrash blog fails lives up to its potential, it won't be for want of material. (via 2020 Hindsight)
