A Classic Doc Moment

Doc Searls giving the TV and Radio biz people a hard time, for their total cluelessness. These people are about all the things the Cluetrain Manifesto rages against:

"I know watching the broadcast industry melt like an iceberg isn't box office for everybody, but I like to savor those moments when it turns toward the Sun, hoping to pick up a tan"

The Man himself

I mailed the previous post to Dave Winer, and he replied:

"I plan to work on this next to make it really easy and smooth."

Old posts from editthispage.com?

I'm sure there are a bunch of people like me, who used to run a weblog on Userland's hosting service, www.editthispage.com, and who have now switched or will switch over to Radio. The hosting service was wonderful, and hell it was free (or rather, for the moment, still is), but Radio in its latest incarnation, is just so much better; blindingly good by any standards.

Since Radio 8 doesn't have the ManilaSiteConverter tool that Radio 7 did to suck down the contents of a Manila weblog, I'm wondering how the fine folks at Userland have in mind for us loyal users to migrate, bringing all our old posts with us?

Later I posted this question to the web discussion and trouble shooting board for Radio, and frankly I was sceptical that Userland's developers would have time right now, in the crazy time a week after going public with this amazing piece of software, to post a decent reply. But that's just what I got - an answer which looks like it should work for me - thanks Jake!

However, this is a migration path for people who inadvertently fixed the problem before they fired up Radio 8.  What of all the folks who have been using editthispage who didn't happen to know that they needed to use Radio 7 before Radio 8?

Later again: Although I'm not sure now this is going to work, sounds like Dave's on the case - a bridge sounds good to me!
