Matthew Blair: Blogging from the Equator

Boing Boing

Cory Doctorow's blog was excellent, but seems to be getting even better, and man, is he prolific. An irresistable turn of phrase this morning:

"Apple's released a technote on the new G4 iMac, with lots of lovely details on the guts and bolts. . Link"

Insider Deal

Very much the Internet in joke, Googlewhacking on Unblinking has some wonderful moments:

"David "JOHOwhacker" Weinberger's Journal qualifies as the first daypopwhack of the term "googlewhack." (Whaddya want from me? I do searchy stuff for a living!) That is, using the great engine over at DayPop, you eventually wind up at Dave's blog, where he proposes a few rules. I'm glad to see Dave taking on the role of Googlewhackump."

Love and Literature

The following from Quotes of the Day:

Andre Maurois (who?): "In literature as in love, we are astonished at what is chosen by others."

Put me in mind of The One Book List:

"My proposal is this: I would like for each of you to decide on a single book that you would most like for the world to read for inclusion in the list. The book that, for you, was the most influential, or thought-provoking, or enjoyable, or moving, or philosophically powerful, or deep in some sense you cannot properly define, or any other criteria you wish to set."

Where you can be inspired to broaden your horizons, as well as be, well, truly astonished.
