As is commonly the case in times of tough budgets, Indiana is planning to shaft the mentally ill.

Okay, I'm a jackass.  I forgot that Radio listens to both 5335 (a hard-coded port) and another port which is set at install time, and which defaults to 80.  You can change it by bringing up the Radio Userland application, in the Radio Menu, under Web Server->Set Port.  Thanks to Robert Barksdale for the tip.

Dave pointed out to me that the changes I've made to my internal Radio scripts will be lost when Userland makes updates to them; I'll try and learn more about scripting Radio soon and create a custom detailed logging facility.

I thought Radio was *only* supposed to listen on port 5335???? In experimenting with some security stuff, I've found that it's listening to port 80 as well!  Is this because I've configured it to allow me to connect to the homepage remotely?

It looks like some hosts on my network (and at least one outside it) are trying to run old IIS worm exploits on Radio's 5335 port.  In order to see the URIs more clearly in the web server log I did some rudimentary crawling around inside Radio's scripting language.  I managed to try and run the system.verbs.builtins.radio.html.viewWebServerLog() script as a Quick Script at the Radio console, and when it failed, I debugged into it; then I was able to make the change I needed.  Here's how:

Find a line which says:

add ("<td class=\"dwsTableCell">" + "<a href="" + adritem^.uri + "\"><font size="-1">" + fname + "</font></a></td>")

Change it to say:

add ("<td class=\"dwsTableCell">" + "<a href="" + adritem^.uri + "\"><font size="-1">" + adritem^.uri + "</font></a></td>")

I'm sure there's an easier way to modify these scripts, but I'm a Frontier/Radio ignoramus as of yet.

"Radio 8.0.2 is ready. When you get a new version, you only need to copy the new app into the Radio UserLand folder, replacing the old one. On 8.0.1 this wasn't clear, and lots of people did fresh installs, with not-great results. We're learning."  [Scripting News]

Haven't tried this yet, but I have frequently updated radio.root.  Sounds like they fixed the problems that fucked Ken's Radio install.  I don't mean that as a rip; I know how hard software development is.

Woo hoo!  We now have two Scots driving in Formula One!  Now we can have even more guys from the misty highlands who will be consistently smoked by the Germans and South Americans... ;)

D'oh! Jaguar apparently has a severe problem with their new aerodynamics package; their new R3 car's front wing is not generating enough downforce and they're having to do a redesign.  I think too much is being made of this; people are pointing to this as as "another failure oof Jaguar's design team", but at least they know what's going on, and will be able to address it in time for the start of the F1 season.

My friend Ted sent me a link to this reverse telephone lookup service.  It kind of creeps me out; it's really fast, and it was able to find numbers that I'm pretty sure are supposed to be unlisted.

As Sugar Shane Mosley said in a press conference Wednesday, crap like Tyson pulls "...makes it hard for fighters like myself to get attention outside boxing".  This is absolutely true; Mosley is one of the classiest guys in the fight game, a pleasure to watch every round, and the vast majority of people have no idea who he is.

Do yourself a favor: ignore Lewis/Tyson and watch good fights like Mosley/Forrest this Saturday night on HBO.

Thing I need to learn today that I should have learned ages ago: how to expose a C++ class prototype from a DLL without using MFC.
