Hollywood casting strikes again: Saw the preview, but don't believe I'll be seeing the movie of the Kander/Ebb/Fosse musical Chicago. Nothing against the curvy Catherine Zeta-Jones (who actually starred in 42nd Street in London in her teens), but I happen to be one of the lucky ones who once sat in the Shubert Theatre and saw the embodiment of vamp Velma Kelly sing, dance, dazzle, and turn every male in attendance into a Tex Avery cartoon wolf — ladies and gentlemen, the owner of the role and your 1997 Tony Award winner, Ms. Bebe Neuwirth, as pictured in the dictionary (see trouper, n., and gams, n. pl.).
