How to change an audio file so you can use a bookmark in iTunes and on iPod

Using a third-party file type editor, you can change an audio file so it works with iTunes' bookmark feature. The same bookmarks work on iPod. They allow you to pick up where you left off when listening to a long audio file. [Apple Computer Knowledge Base Changes for 2004-01-30]

NY Times: "Students who tracked their lies for a week reported telling lies in 15 percent of e-mail messages, compared with more than a third of phone calls, 25 percent of face-to-face conversations and about 20 percent of instant messaging chats." [Scripting News]

I guess someone is trying to make the point that we're more honest in emails. But I don't get it. These numbers freak me out. I remember lying to someone once about 5 years ago. I think that was the last time.

CBC Saskatchewan-French town remembers a Saskatchewan hero
"Pierre Le Canadien" Peter Dmytruck was a Canadian soldier who fought and died with the French resistance during the Second World War and he has been credited with saving a small town in the centre of the country.
The National just ran a story on this fellow who's heroism is celebrated every year in a town in France. I've never heard of him nor have most Canucks.

Globe and Mail-Canada smoothing the waters among Caribbean neighbours
The Americans and the French did the shoving to persuade Jean-Bertrand Aristide to leave power. But Canada was doing the compensatory fence-mending across the Caribbean yesterday, and it also moved to send as many as 500 troops to Haiti for a year or more to take part in an international stabilization force.
The third largest Hatian population in North America is in Montreal. Canada is the only other French-speaking country in the Western Hemisphere. There are many reasons Canada plays a major role in Haiti.

Globe and Mail-VIA chairman fired over ëunacceptable' remarks
Prime Minister Paul Martin fired Via Rail chairman Jean Pelletier Monday, days after he called Olympian and former Via employee Myriam Bédard a "pitiful" single mom after she came forward with allegations of misspending at the Crown corporation.

Subtle UI trick: With the pointer over a shrunken iTunes' window, scrolling your mouse's scroll wheel changes the volume up and down.

Google selected text in Safari via the keyboard

I'm not sure if this has been posted before, but a quick search didn't turn up any matches, so here's the hint...

Arcand carries off the Oscar for best...

On a night in which the Rings reigned, the Canadian director wins for The Barbarian Invasions
[The Globe and Mail: Arts] Canada's premier director, Denys Arcand, showed his usual self-effacing irony last night after winning his Oscar for The Barbarian Invasions when he waived the opportunity to make the usual acceptance speech. Known as a critic of American culture and its excesses, he made the ultimate statement by not making one at all.

New: Composer to 'Last, Rest-of-Name'

Here's a script that the Bach family would love, no doubt. Composer to 'Last, Rest-of-Name', written by Joel M. Watson, changes the Composer tag in iTunes from the format "Firstname Secondname ... Lastname" to "Lastname, Firstname Secondname ...". It automatically checks to see if the Artist tag is identical to the Composer tag and updates it if it is. This was designed for use with Classical composers (who usually have more than a First and Last name—e.g., George Frideric Händel), but will work with any composer name (whether it contains just 2 names or 13+ names) that is delimited by spaces. [Doug's AppleScripts for iTunes]
