How to swear in Quebecois

The proprietors of ciboire.com have launched a site about Qucois swearing and insults. [montreal city weblog]

Personally I like saying 'tabernac' with a flat, anglo-Canuck accent. I laugh out loud after I say it! I don't know that anyone else finds it funny.

The Mirror's annual student survival guide is a compendium of all kinds of useful information for living in Montreal on anything below a middle-class income; they also link to my veggie resto page, bless 'em. [montreal city weblog]

skype 4 mac

Damn! I just made my first Skype for OSX call. From my laptop, wireless to our home phone in Belgium. I signed up for the 1.7 cents/minute global plan. No wonder people are freaking out about this. I'm going to save a lot of money.

My skype name is adamc1999

Pod2Go downloads news, more to iPod

On Friday, Kainjow Software released Pod2Go 1.0, a new utility that syncs with your iPod and downloads news, driving directions, weather forecasts, calendars, contacts and other information to the MP3 player. It turns text, whether it's driving directions from a Web site or messages stored in Apple's Mail application, into an iPod-compatible format -- contact files in older iPods with mechanical scroll wheels and notes in newer iPods with touch sensitive controls. You can also configure it to automatically sync data between your iPod and your Mac at certain times of the day or only when the device is connected to the computer. Pod2Go requires Mac OS X v10.2.7 or v10.3 and Safari and sells for US$12, with a 15-day trial available. [MacCentral]

developerWorks : Blogs
I've decided to make the move to a Microsoft-free computing environment, having tired of the time I spend on the care and feeding of XP as compared to my relatively worry-free network of Linux appliances and Macs. My latest acquisition is a 17" Apple Powerbook powered by the IBM G4 processor which I'll use to replace my XP laptop and an older G4 tower. In addition to a breathtakingly beautiful form factor, this machine has every feature I need, from DVD-R to Airport and Bluetooth connections. More importantly, there's no essential application I need that doesn't run on this platform. In this manner, I'll avoid the Microsoft operating system tax, although I will break down and install the Microsoft Office suite (which actually is nicer on the Mac than it is on XP). Eclipse runs quite handily on the Mac already, thank you: I've been developing beans with it for over a year now.

Apple posts iMac intro video

At his keynote address to attendees of Apple Expo 2004 in Paris France, Apple Vice President, Worldwide Product Marketing Phil Schiller introduced the iMac G5 -- Apple's latest iteration of its all-in-one consumer computer. During the keynote Schiller showed an introduction video for the new computer featuring Apple's Vice President, Industrial Design Jonathan Ive and Vice President, Product Marketing Greg Joswiak. Now the video, which is almost four minutes long, is available for viewing on the Apple Web site. Sporting a soundtrack from (and brief appearance by) the Black Eyed Peas, the introduction video visually compares the iMac G5 to the iPod and shows the new computer in use. The QuickTime 6 video is available in small, medium and large formats. [MacCentral]
