CBC's David Halton to retire
Veteran CBC News reporter David Halton spent his last day on the job on the other side of the microphone, being interviewed by radio, print and television journalists.
Halton, born in Beaconsfield, England, joined the CBC in 1965. One year later, he became the network's Paris-based correspondent, reporting on the de Gaulle government, the Six-Day War in Israel and a coup in Greece.
His career took him to Moscow, where he was correspondent from 1968 to 1969, to Canadian posts in Quebec and Ottawa, to London, and to his final post, senior news correspondent in Washington, D.C.
