Call for HD Boycott
Found this somewhat shocking story at MacNN: "Apple's former director of video
product marketing Mike Evangelist is calling for a boycott of next-generation HD video products--including HD-DVD and
Blu-ray--claiming that the industry is trying to take away 'fair use' from customers." Reading the actual blog post, my blood started to boil, "This is important. I
really want you to understand what’s going on with the video industry’s push towards HD. They are
engineering a complete removal of the concept of fair use. They are setting up systems that will completely
control how, when and where you can use content that you buy. Even worse, they can retroactively
change the rules!"

BWF2XML For FCP
BWF2XML is an application that converts Broadcast Wave File into a
format that allows FCP to read those BWF audio files. "By leveraging the power of the FCP XML format, BWF2XML
allows FCP to seamlessly import the complete metadata and timecode. Dependent on your system setup polyphonic BWFs and
merging of discrete mono BWFs are handled. There is also an option to do a level and pan setup, which does not modify
the original files, but the XML - so the editor still is able to change these setttings." So pretty much when you
record sound with BWF, the metadata included with the audio file will be translated into FCP with BWF2XML. The metadata
could include levels, timecode, notes, etc.
