He said the first known English version of the anthem, printed in 1908, reveals the word "us" on the exactly same syllable and musical note that the word "sons" appears in the current version.

The 65-year-old musician said it is believed the lyric was changed in 1913 because of the Boer War when young men were being sent off to battle. But he added: "Even then, it was not true that we only sent young men off to battles.""

Actually, he supports the idea of reverting to the original text. Interesting bit of history of which very few of us were aware.

What is needed is an intelligent debate over what basic services need to be protected, so that all Canadians have equal access to a health care system that meets their fundamental needs. Wild wind gusts howl across Ontario. Toronto Star Online Mar 11 2002 6:03AM ET [Moreover - moreover...]Mother Nature wreaked havoc across Southern Ontario this weekend, bending trees, snapping hydro lines, blinding drivers and sending us a chilling reminder that winter isn't over yet.

In southern Ontario, winds clocked 125 km/h in places, bringing a drastic change in temperature. People who had been spotted jogging in T-shirts on Saturday morning were sent scuttling for winter jackets and touques less than 24 hours later, as the thermometer plummeted 24 degrees to [~]6C.

U.S. and Canada Unite to Secure Open PortalThe Federal Bureau of Investigation is giving the Royal Canadian Mounted Police direct access to its fingerprint database [~] the first time a foreign agency has had a direct link to the information. Both countries will send customs inspectors to each other's busiest seaports. The countries are sharing visa information. The Border Patrol has increased the number of joint enforcement and surveillance teams with its Canadian counterparts and has stationed a liaison officer at the Mounted Police headquarters in Ottawa.

My goodness. The Canucks do get something in return. I think.
